Contrast, Compare, and Why

Why ShadowXTwilight? What is it that they have in common?

First off, what is it that they do not have in common? That will be the first thing the arguments would start out. Things like different races for being hedgehogs and ponies, the amount of legs they have, hands and wings, and other trivial things will not be included, due to obviousness.

• Twilight was born naturally as a unicorn. Shadow was created as 'the Ultimate Lifeform' from alien blood and through artificial means by top secret scientists.

• Twilight have loved ones, family, friends, and close friends alive and to be with or able to get into contact with. Shadow lost his loves ones, Gerald and Maria, killed off his biological family, Black Doom and the Black Arms, and has a few friends like Rouge, Omega, and to some extent Eggman, but he mostly keeps to himself though he's willing to help Sonic and his friends when it comes to saving the world.

• Twilight uses magic with the intent to bring Harmony, Shadow uses Chaos energy as his main power source.

• Twilight studies hard and strives to be near-perfect as her mentor, Princess Celestia. Shadow is the Ultimate Lifeform, the embodiment and product of perfection but strives to fulfill his goals.

• Twilight usually needed friends by her side to succeed. Shadow on the other hand is capable of handling things on his own.

• Shadow is more than likely to use violent actions when faced with crises. Twilight would use possible solutions to solve the problem and would use violence as a last resort or against enemies such as the changelings.

• Shadow has an arrogant personality and tends to mock others for being weak, due to being the ultimate lifeform and as such has that 'I'm better than you' attitude when in a fight or competing in races. Twilight has none of that behavior. She denounces saying 'Ponyville is nothing but muddy roads and low-class rubes' as lies in Ponyville Confidential.

• Shadow displays speed as fast as Sonic, enormous strength, and endurance such as surviving a fall to the Earth, can physically break through stone and metal, lift buses and concrete rubble with one hand, and use speed limit signs as a one hand weapon; those things are heavy to lift alone in the first place. Twilight doesn't have that much. She had to use magic to push the snow in Winter Wrap Up.

They do however, have much in common.
Both:
-like to look at stars.
-are willing to help others.
-are immortal and may outlast their friends one day.
-are leaders of their team, the Mane Six and Team Dark respectively.
-had to use items to invoke their powers; Twilight's Element of Magic and other Mane Six's elements for harmony and Chaos Emeralds for Shadow's chaos powers and super form.
-have profound knowledge of their powers and skill. They're also powerful on their own when not reliant on the mentioned items.
-are powerful enough to be a threat. When discovering her cutie mark, Twilight became unstably chaotic as she loses control that Princess Celestia had to be there to calm her magic. Evidently Shadow is powerful, enough so to be a threat to humanity that they would lock him up, though that's according to Mephiles and he's not trustworthy.
-can teleport
-can transform or underwent transformation. When angry, Twilight evolves into Rapidash! Now she's transformed into an alicorn princess. Shadow turns red with vengeance in his game as Dark Shadow equipped with Chaos Blast or as Hero Shadow with Chaos Control, Chaos Boost in 06, and generally can go super with 7 Chaos Emeralds at present.
-had blue rivals, Trixie and Sonic, whom they would be friends with later on.
-are of royalty, or were part of royalty at one point. Shadow was king in the Archie comics, thank you L-MASTER for pointing that.
-are determine to fulfill their promises. Twilight's willing to give reports to the princess as promised. Shadow's promise to Maria is give humanity a chance.
-have had anti-social and introverted traits. That changes when Twilight learns the meaning of friendship and Shadow decides to put the past behind him.
-are well liked and a fan favorite in each of their franchise.
-can dance. Twilight dances in the Sweet and Elite episode [link]. Shadow can breakdance in a music video promoting his game [link].
-can sing or have voice actors that could sing. Tara Strong can sing besides Twilightlicious; there's Take My Hand [link], Lay Down Your Arms, [link]). I'm not sure why they used a different voice, Rebecca Shoiche, for Twilight's singing performance. Shadow is never seen to be singing, but he's the ultimate lifeform he should be able to sing! His Japanese seiyuu, Koji Yusa, can sing beautifully (Mizukage [link], Break Your Destiny [link], and plenty of others with character songs as Gin Ichimaru from Bleach [link], Lau from Black Butler [link]). David Humphrey, Shadow's first voice in English, is a bass singer in a cappella sextet, Vybration (to hear him sing solo, click on the song Mele Kalikimaka, you'll hear him sing his solo on 0:48-1:37 [link], still sounds like Shadow!). I haven't heard Jason Griffith sing other than do condom commercials [link]. And Kirk Thornton sang terribly on purpose as Don Patch in Bobobo-bobo-bobobo; that show's too random!

So why should there be Shadow X Twilight? Why was this group formed dedicated to the pairing?

The first question is hard for me to answer without causing too much controversy, so I think it's best to leave up to you guys. My opinion though, is that there are other Sonic/MLP shippings here in deviantart, Sonic X Rainbow Dash, Knuckles X Applejack, Tails X Fluttershy. That leaves Pinkie, Rarity, and Twilight for whomever Shadow would be best paired up with. Rarity would be too much like Rouge for Shadow, Pinkie's a lot like Amy, and Twilight is similar to Blaze. I'd say Twilight because what I have said in what they have in common to share with each other.

For why the group was formed, I think the appropriate question would be how it came to be. I've been reading fanfics and artworks that has the pairing of Shadow and Twilight and I would like to see more of it, and a group would be a good start to bring out more artworks and stories. Then following Tatsurou-san's encouragement and advice, that's how the group came to be.
